Karantinas | COVID-19 Exposure & Symptom Tracking App
Project Objective
The goal was to design Karantinas, an innovative app aimed at helping individuals and communities manage the COVID-19 pandemic more effectively. The app combines symptom assessment, self-isolation guidance, and Bluetooth-based exposure tracking to provide users with actionable, real-time health insights.
Challenges & Constraints
Health-critical accuracy: Developing reliable symptom identification and exposure tracking in collaboration with healthcare authorities.
User trust & compliance: Ensuring clear communication and privacy while guiding users through quarantine and self-assessment processes.
Complex logic: Creating algorithms to calculate COVID-19 symptom severity and provide appropriate recommendations.
Collaboration with authorities: Aligning the app with Kauno Klinikos and the National Public Health Service (NVSC) guidelines.
Solution & Approach
Symptom assessment & calculation logic. Designed a clear interface for self-reporting symptoms and an underlying logic to calculate COVID-19 risk levels based on symptom severity.
Bluetooth exposure tracking. Integrated real-time Bluetooth tracking to notify users of potential exposure while respecting privacy and data security.
Self-isolation guidance. Provided clear, actionable steps based on symptom assessment and exposure status, helping users follow quarantine guidelines effectively.
Collaboration with health authorities. Worked alongside Kauno Klinikos and NVSC to ensure all guidance, notifications, and calculations were medically sound and compliant.
User-friendly UI & UX. Focused on clarity, simplicity, and accessibility to ensure users could easily navigate the app and understand their health data.
Impact
Karantinas empowered users with accurate, real-time insights into COVID-19 exposure and symptoms, supporting informed decision-making and helping communities manage the pandemic more effectively.
