Riro | Full Salon Management Platform

Project Objective

A few years ago, I designed an earlier version of Riro, the full-featured salon management platform, using a custom design system developed from scratch. The goal was to create a professional, intuitive, and approachable interface that allowed salon managers to efficiently handle scheduling, client management, gift card sales, and online visibility.

Challenges & Constraints

1. Custom system development: Building a design system from the ground up that was consistent, scalable, and adaptable across multiple features.

2. Complex workflows: Designing seamless flows for onboarding, service setup, and subscription management without overwhelming users.

3. Balancing professionalism and approachability: Ensuring the interface felt credible for business use while remaining welcoming to users of varying tech experience.

Solution & Approach

1. Custom design system. Developed a fully bespoke system with design tokens, reusable components, and layouts that maintained consistency across the platform.

2. Onboarding & setup flow. Created step-by-step onboarding to guide salon managers through brand setup, service configuration, and subscription activation, ensuring a smooth start.

3. Core functionality interface. Designed clear, easy-to-use modules for appointments, client management, gift card sales, and online visibility tools.

4. Professional yet approachable UI. Balanced typography, hierarchy, and visual cues to make complex features feel simple and intuitive for end-users.

5. Scalable & adaptable. The custom system allowed for future expansion of features while preserving interface consistency.

Impact

This earlier iteration of Riro established a strong foundation for the platform’s evolution. It delivered a polished, user-friendly experience for salon managers while validating workflows and interface patterns that would later be refined with Filament Design System.
